South Carolina Woman Sues 60 in Asbestos War
Doris Hunt, of South Charleston, South Carolina has named 60 defendants in her asbestos-related suit over her husband’s recent death.
George F. Hunt, Mrs. Hunt’s late husband, was diagnosed with mesothelioma on September 29, 2009 and died of the cancer on February 19, 2010. He had worked as a laborer for Union Carbide for forty years where he was allegedly exposed to asbestos fibers.
Asbestos is known to cause mesothelioma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Mesothelioma affects the linings of the lungs, stomach or heart after asbestos fibers enter the body. There is no cure for mesothelioma and only palliative treatments are available.
Doris Hunt’s suit includes negligence, conspiracy and contaminated buildings. She is being represented by Victoria Antion and James A. McKowen.
