Kentucky Woman Sues 144 After Mesothelioma Diagnosis

Joni L. Johnson of Lexington, KY recently named 144 defendants in an asbestos lawsuit.

Johnson was diagnosed with mesothelioma in February, a dangerous and aggressive cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Johnson’s father worked as pipefitter between 1948 and 1976. Ms. Johnson believes she was exposed to the fibers through her father.

Asbestos fibers can attach to clothes and objects of those who are exposed first-hand. When the fibers enter the body, they attack the lining of the lungs, heart and stomach, causing mesothelioma.

Johnson claims she does not smoke and is suing the companies for which her father was employed for negligence, contaminated buildings, breach of expressed/implied warranty, strict liability, intentional tort, conspiracy, misrepresentation and post-sale duty to war.

Johnson is being represented by Victoria Antion, Scott A. McGee, John D. Hurst and Joseph Satterley.
